ASTM C26800 Common Brass Seamless Tubes For Water Exchanger And Oil Lubricating Pipe
1. Description
ASTM C26800 Seamless Brass is the most widely used common brass. This brand of brass pipe has good variability (the best brass) and high strength. Although it has good machinability, is very easy to weld and is very stable to general corrosion, it is easy to produce corrosion cracking.
The strength of C26800 seamless brass tube is higher than that of copper tube (but it has the lowest strength among ordinary brass). It has good electrical and thermal conductivity, and high corrosion resistance in the atmosphere and fresh water. Because it's good variability, it is easy to be processed by hot and cold pressure, easy to be welded, forged and tinned, and has no tendency of stress corrosion cracking. It is usually used in oil pressure system, such as lubrication system. It is also widely used in bathroom and shower room.
The advantages of brass tube: the brass tube is hard, not easy to corrosion, and high temperature resistance, high pressure resistance, can be used in a variety of environments. Compared with this, the disadvantages of many other pipe materials are obvious. For example, the galvanized steel pipe used in residential buildings in the past is easy to rust. If the service time is not long, the water will turn yellow and the water flow will become smaller. In addition, the strength of some materials will rapidly decrease at high temperature, which will cause unsafe risks when used in hot water pipes. However, the melting point of brass is as high as 1083 degrees centigrade, so the temperature of hot water system is negligible for brass pipes.
